Description
Set against the background of Franco-British misunderstandings, this study deals with the aims, difficulties, and achievements of French foreign policy and the controversies surrounding it. It considers how far, since General de Gaulle’s accession to power, these policies affected France’s relations with her allies in NATO and her partners in EEC, the ways in which they exacerbated Franco-British misunderstandings, and finally the extent to which the policies adopted by General de Gaulle were likely to survive him.
